This workshop is for all play therapists who find themselves moving into integrative play therapy practice – integrating various models of play therapy in ways to best meet the needs of their clients.
This workshop will enhance your existing knowledge and skills and support you to confidently move into integrative play therapy practice, anchoring to the Play Therapy Dimensions Model (PTDM). It will not only enhance your play therapy practice, it will also provide you with a clear framework and language to articulate your play therapy work to adults around the child.
Play therapy is a craft developed over many years of practice, and this workshop aims to support you along your journey as you deepen and bring your practice to a new level.
This Masterclass will be facilitated by Katherine Olejniczak, a leader in the dynamic application of the PTDM. She has undertaken research into the use of the PTDM in trauma therapy and authored a chapter in Yasenik & Gardener’s second book (2019) dedicated to the application of the PTDM in practice. She has developed the PTDM-Revised which integrates key neuroscience principles into the PTDM and trained extensively in the use of this model.
Key Learning Objectives:
1) Deepen understanding of the Play Therapy Dimensions Model (PTDM) as a conceptual framework for integrative play therapy practice.
2) Integrate key neuroscience principles into the PTDM and articulate their application in practice, particularly when working with traumatised children.
3) Describe the 4 PTDM quadrants and clinical indicators for working in each quadrant.
4) Identify when movement through the quadrants is child- or therapist-led and how this informs therapist use of self in moment-to-moment of the play therapy process.
5) Master the art of working dynamically with the PTDM both within sessions and across sessions.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop is essential for play therapists who use more than 1 play therapy model. It is also relevant for other mental health clinicians working with children who have some training and experience using play-based approaches – e.g. psychologists, counsellors, social workers, occupational therapists etc.
