DEEPEN YOUR THERAPEUTIC SKILLS AND GROW IN YOUR CONFIDENCE WHEN WORKING WITH CAREGIVERS DURING CHILD THERAPY. Experiential, reflective and grounded in the needs of the child. Relevant for both therapists and supervisors alike.

Key learning objectives

· Formulate therapeutic interventions based on the child’s expressed needs, and which engage caregivers and systems around the child in the therapeutic process.

· Explore principles of relational templates, patterns of relating and parental reflective functioning to gain insights into the child-caregiver relationships, and ways of leveraging these in the therapeutic process.

· Strengthen skills in providing feedback and having hard conversations with caregivers.· Introduce a range of therapeutic approaches for engaging caregivers in child therapy (e.g. PACE, play-based approaches, dyadic therapy, collaborating with Care Teams).

· Identify special considerations when working with specific client situations (e.g. Out-of-Home Care, family violence, parental separation).

· Consolidate clinical skills through participation in reflective and/or experiential activities.

Our workshop, CHILD-SENSITIVE SERVICE DELIVERY DESIGN, has been designed as an adjunct to this workshop, and is also available via recording.
